2020年オカルト系3人組YouTuberのウマヅラビデオが「あつまれどうぶつの森と567の関係【都市伝説】」を公開。自粛の裏側になる都市伝説を紹介し話題になっている。
ウマヅラビデオは自粛の裏側に「人類補完計画」があることを紹介。「あつまれどうぶつの森」もそのうちの一つとであるとコメント。当初2019年に発売される予定だったのが、2020年の自粛の最中と遅くなったのも「人類補完計画」が関係していると説明している。

ウマヅラビデオは世界中でリモートを余技なくされており、家でネットやTV、ゲームの時間が増えていることを説明。ゲームでアバターを作ることで自分の分身がネット世界で生活し、VRで仮想世界にも行けることを挙げている。
また、キャッシュレス化も進んでいる現在、物理的に物や人との距離が遠くなっていることから「人類補完計画」が進んでいると話している。
