2020年8月2日、人気YouTuberのはじめしゃちょーが「【怪奇現象】座敷わらしがいる部屋に1人で泊まってみた」という動画を投稿した。山形県にある座敷わらしがいると言われる部屋に一人で泊まる動画を投稿するが、怪奇現象が起こっていると話題になっている。

ニコニコ生放送の企画で座敷わらしが出現すると言われる旅館から生放送をしたはじめしゃちょー。放送終了後、１人で宿泊することに。木造建築ということを差し引いても、多すぎる物音など不審な点が残る動画となっている。結局、朝まで熟睡し、座敷わらしに遭遇することはなかったが、音の正体は分からないままだった。

スタッフに起こされビビりまくったはじめしゃちょーに対し、視聴者からは
「3:37 左側の吊るされてるやつ動いてね？」
「5:47 奥の物揺れてる」
「ところどころ物が動いててどれが心霊現象なのかわからない」
と動画内の不自然な点を指摘するコメントが寄せられている。
